Steve Fryer’s list of outstanding baseball players last week:
Gavin Grahovac, Villa Park, Jr., SS: Grahovac went 5 for 13 with three runs scored during three Ryan Lemmon Series tournament wins for the Spartans. Grahovac, who committed to Texas A&M, was 7 for 17 during the tournament.
Ben Jacobs, Huntington Beach, Sr., P: He gave up only one hit with five strikeouts over six innings in the Oilers’ 2-1 win over Hamilton (Chandler, Ariz.) in the second round of the National High School Invitational at North Carolina. Jacobs signed with UCLA.
Spencer Jacobs, El Modena, Jr., OF/P: He was named MVP of the Ryan Lemmon Series that the Vanguards won with a victory over Woodbridge in the tournament’s championship game. Jacobs batted .375 over four games with three doubles and three RBIs and pitched two scoreless innings in which he had four strikeouts.
Nick Montgomery, Cypress, So., 1B: Montgomery was 7 for 12 with three doubles, a home run and four RBIs for the National Classic-champion Centurions. Montgomery, who committed to Arizona State, was named tournament MVP.
Nathan Perry, Woodbridge, Sr., OF: He was 6 for 10 in the Ryan Lemmon Series. Perry hit a triple, scored five runs and had two stolen bases, and was a defensive standout in left field for the Warriors.
