State Sen. Dave Min was cited for driving under the influence on Tuesday night, he confirmed on his Facebook page Wednesday morning, May 3.
“Last night I received a misdemeanor for driving under the influence. My decision to drive last night was irresponsible,” Min said. “I accept full responsibility and there is no excuse for my actions.”
A campaign spokesperson said this is Min’s first DUI and that he was in Sacramento when the incident occurred.
“To my family, constituents and supporters, I am so deeply sorry. I know I need to do better,” he said. “I will not let this personal failure distract from our work in California and in Washington.”
Min, who is running to replace Rep. Katie Porter in California’s 47th congressional district, is the only candidate endorsed by Porter to date.
