Ever wondered what it’s like in outer space? Now’s your chance to find out from a NASA astronaut.
Tracy Dyson, who completed six months aboard the International Space Station in 2024, is back on Earth. And, now, she’s back in Irvine.
Dyson will speak about her time aboard the ISS during a free public lecture at UC Irvine’s Beckman Center at 7 p.m. on Wednesday, Jan 15. She’ll talk about her most recent trip to space and what it takes to become an astronaut. Auditorium seating will be available on a first-come, first-served basis.
Born in Arcadia, Dyson earned her bachelor’s degree in chemistry from Cal State Fullerton. After grad school, she came back to Orange County for postdoctoral research at UCI.
Selected as an astronaut by NASA in 1998, Dyson has completed three voyages in space. Between those missions, she has logged more than a year of time living in space.
