A new food and beverage court is open weekends at Great Park Live, Irvine’s new music venue.

From 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturdays and Sundays, parkgoers can enjoy The Layover, an eatery serving American food — burgers, hot dogs, chicken tenders and salads — plus snacks and alcohol, including cocktails, wine and beer. There is even the Great Park Live Blonde Lager, specially crafted by Brewery X.

Food trucks are also often stationed at the venue, which also offers free lawn games, inflatable slides and a bounce house for younger visitors.

Since the opening of the nearby athletic complex several years ago, which hosts a number of softball, baseball, soccer and other sports tournaments, there has been a dearth of nearby food options until more recently. The Layover opened this month at the Terraced Lawn.

Great Park Live, the city’s temporary outdoor amphitheater debuted last month and has been hosting concerts with popular tribute bands and the Pacific Symphony. On Oct. 25 it will host Clay Walker and his Country Side Tour.
