Three suspects linked to multiple thefts and an assault against a police officer in Orange County were arrested after a pursuit on Friday, Dec. 27, authorities announced.

The chase began after Fountain Valley police officers responded to reports of suspicious activity involving a gray BMW SUV near Talbert Avenue and Bay Street, the department said in a Facebook post on Friday evening. The SUV fled from officers, police said.

The California Highway Patrol took over the pursuit, which ended over 25 miles away in Gardena.

Inside the vehicle, later determined to be stolen, officers found six stolen catalytic converts, a stolen license plate and burglary tools, they said.

“Multiple thefts were linked to the suspects, including incidents in Fountain Valley, Garden Grove and Irvine including assault against a police officer,” the post stated.

Police did not specify in the post where or when the assault against the officer occurred, and they could not be reached on Saturday for additional information.
