Taco Bell is bringing back its “Steal a Base, Steal a Taco” giveaway for its 11th year, but with a big differece.
This year the taco giveaway for only for fans who sign up to be Taco Bell Rewards members, according to the Irvine-based fast food chain.
In prior years, anybody who wanted to visit Taco Bell could pick up one free taco at a set time on a pre-announced day.
The promotion is tied to Major League Baseball. The first base that is stolen during the World Series will trigger a giveaway of Nacho Cheese Doritos Locos Tacos. Taco Bell Rewards members will be able to claim their free taco the same night the base is stolen, according to a news release.
Also new this year, Rewards members will be able to predict who will make the first steal in the series for the chance to win a free medium fountain drink to go with the free taco. The deadline to enter the prediction is 11:59 p.m. Pacific Time on Oct. 27, the news release said.

Fans need to sign up for Taco Bell Rewards by the start of the World Series or within 10 days after the first stolen base to qualify, according to the company.
The first World Series game will be Oct. 28, although it is yet to be determined who will be playing. Four teams have reached the League Championship Series, among them the San Diego Padres, who knocked the Dodgers out of the running on Saturday. The others are the Houston Astros, the New York Yankees and the Philadelphia Phillies.
The Padres’ first two games against the Phillies in the National League Championship Series took place at Petco Park in San Diego. If necessary, the teams will return to Petco Park for Game 6 on Oct. 24. The stadium will host watch parties for Games 3 and 4.
