A trio that was part of a Jonas Brothers tour and a four-piece rock group from Los Angeles are the winners in the In-N-Out Burger Battle of the Bands contest.
Sitting on Stacy and Temple Monarc will perform at the burger chain’s 75th anniversary festival, Oct. 22 at In-N-Out Burger Pomona Dragstrip, according to organizers.
The event made the announcement in an Instagram story that has dropped out of the feed and hinted at in a 40-second video on the competition’s website.
Sitting on Stacy is a self-described California-based rock/alternative band with a ska/surf vibe. The band in Ventura County and its members then went to college at San Diego State. The Jonas Brothers tour was “Remember This Tour” in North America in 2021. The band will perform Sept. 22 at Aviator Nation Dreamland in Malibu and Sept. 23 at Cape Rey Carlsbad Beach.
On its website, Temple Monarc describes its music as “a mix of powerful bottom-end grooves and intricate melodic lines” that “imparts classic flavor to a youthful band.”
The competition took place online, with In-N-Out president and owner Lynsi Snyder-Ellingson and .48 Special, the In-N-Out “family band,” judging performance videos, according to a news release. Entry fees benefit the Slave 2 Nothing Foundation set up by Snyder-Ellingson and husband Sean Ellingson to combat human trafficking and addiction.
The foundation figures prominently in the festival and its leadup.
The festival will include free live entertainment as well as a separately ticketed concert with the band ZZ Top and .48 Special, that will also benefit the foundation.
In-N-Out Burger is based in Irvine but was founded in Baldwin Park by Lynsi Snyder-Ellingson’s grandparents, Harry and Esther Snyder, in 1948, hence the band name .48 Special.
Snyder-Ellingson has written a history of In-N-Out that will be published shortly before the festival. Proceeds from sales will benefit Slave 2 Nothing and the In-N-Out Foundation, which combats child abuse.
